    This is a beautifully designed (and incredible sounding) tiny bluetooth speaker with the addition of being able to answer the phone!

    What is it and what’s it like?
    ————————————-
    If you’ve got a smartphone (ie. Android or iPhone) or tablet (eg. iPad, Nexus or Kindle Fire) or even a relatively modern laptop you can wirelessly stream (play) music from your device. No wires, no fuss just great sound. Let’s face it. Increasingly, we listen to music on our smartphone or tablet – not from a CD player. These little speakers use a “Bluetooth connection” (a bit like WIFI – but it’s limited to connect two devices together – in this case your smartphone and the speaker).

    The really nice feature of this device is you can also use it as a “hands free” speakerphone for your mobile. This means you could (for example) have a “conference call” with the entire family.

    It’s a lovely (tiny) little device, and as said above, sound sound quality is really quite impressive. At full volume, there’s a tiny bit of distortion, but it’s impressively loud and clear for the money. In terms of size its about 2.5 inches high by 2.5 inches, and although light, feels a pretty solid build. It has what appears to be an brushed aluminium body, and a rubber type material on the base to reduce vibration from when it’s placed on hard surfaces.

    In terms of build quality, it does feel pretty good with a top quality materials and a speaker itself protected by a black metal grille. You can also connect it to your headphone socket of a smartphone or tablet too. In the box you get:-

    * A tiny little Bluetooth speaker
    * USB charging cable
    * A top quality (very smart flat) black and white 3.5mm audio cable (so you can plug it directly into your phone)
    * a User guide (with very small print)
    * What appears to be a small rubber mat – presumably to further reduce any vibration.

    I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the 3.5mm audio cable which means you can connect the speaker to your headphone socket or iPod. It’s been designed to almost completely flat and tangle free, with black on one side, and white on the other. Very stylish.

    How do I set it up?
    ————————
    To connect your smartphone, you:-

    1. Switch on, and you’ll see a blue light to indicate it’s switched on
    2. IMPORTANT: Press the “phone” button for about 7 seconds, you’ll hear a “beep-beep” to indicate it’s in “pairing” mode and the light flashes blue and red
    2. On an Apple or Android device: go to Settings -> Bluetooth and select “Vida-IT-BSK23” and you’ll hear a louder “beep”
    3. Play your music.

    It’s really THAT simple.

    Who should buy it?
    —————————
    Well, at this price almost anyone, but I’d guess it’d be brilliant for….

    * For yourself of course!
    * For a child or young teenager to stream music from a PC, Mac or Tablet computer
    * To watch films on an iPad or Android tablet – to boost the sound quality
    * To take on a picnic or holiday. It’s small, well built and weighs almost nothing
    * To improve the sound quality from built in speakers on a laptop

    What’s Good about it?
    ———————–
    * Very impressive sound quality – and REMARKABLY LOUD!
    * Voice quality (for example listening to the radio) is very clear.
    * Built in ability to answer calls, and use it as a speakerphone
    * Incredibly small and light
    * Damn well built.

    What’s not so good?
    —————————-
    When I first open these devices I do the “bloke test”, and ignore the instructions and just try to set it up. Just as well in this case because they are very small print. I was a bit stumped at first. I’d normally expect it to be in “pairing” mode immediately you switch it on, but you need to press the “phone” button for several seconds. Having said that, a quick eMail to the manufacturer was answered within hours, and pointed out my mistake.

    So, all in all pretty damn good!

    Conclusion
    ————-
    A lovely ittle device. Highly Recommended

    Disclosure: I was kindly sent this by the manufacturer to give an independent unbiased review.

    The Vida IT Bluetooth speaker enables you to play your music and audio from your Bluetooth enabled devices wirelessly.

    It came very well presented and in the box I found the

    – Speaker – 3 WATTS – 400 mAh battery -12 hours playtime
    – USB to Micro USB charging cable
    – 3.5mm jack to jack cable
    – Non slip rubber mat for it to sit on
    – Instructions

    This is a little beast of a speaker!

    Build quality is spot on as it is made from brushed aluminium with a metal speaker grille. It has around the base the on/off power switch > 3,5mm aux port > mic hole > telephone answer or decline button.

    I charged it up for around 4 hours then give it a go using my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 loaded with loads of different genres of music. I turned the device on via the on/off switch and an LED light at the bottom flashed to indicate it was on. I searched for any Bluetooth devices and easily found the speaker, was paired up in no time. Found my music and was away!

    I cannot believe how good the sound is from this speaker. It is amazing and I’m not overstating the fact! It is.

    The bass is very good indeed for its size! The sound overall is also very good, to my ears anyway. For it’s size it certainly pumps some power out at 3watts. I played some Motown Punk, Jazz, Pop, Classical. Old school electro, heavy metal and every man and his dog through it! I was impressed on every track!

    Also. . .you can take a call from your phone via this device if it’s playing music at the time as there is a mic at the bottom and obviously the speaker acts as the speaker! Great stuff.

    If you’re into heavy bass and Dubstep then this is for you. If you’re into anything else then this is also for you! If you use the Tune In radio app on your smartphone which I do a lot then this is perfect for playing that through.

    This device was kindly provided for me to test and review by the distributor.

    Definitely recommended.

    Note: The supplier sent me a review sample for evaluation, the review reflects my own personal opinion of the product

    Taking this out of the box I was surprised to see a very thick metal rim on the casing this has a nice brushed effect finish to the aluminium and it certainly makes the speaker feel very solid build wise. This is one of the smaller speakers I’ve tested standing just 5cm high and a diameter of about 19.5cm.

    Controls wise a phone icon indicates the “Multi function button” used for taking/ending//redialling call and you press and hold this on for about 7 or 8 seconds to enter “pairing mode” you get a blue/red LED flashing when it’s ready to pair up. There is a small microphone hold, a micro USB charging port, and a 3.5mm input for inputting non Bluetooth devices to the speaker.

    You get a micro USB lead for charging, and a surprisingly long 3.5mm male, to 3.5mm male stereo cable for the aux input this measures about 1.2m in length way longer than the cables normally provided. It’s also gold plated and a “flat design” the quality feels very good here.

    Back to the speaker on the base there is a removable cover, one taken off this has a surface like the underside of a gel mount mat, you also have a supplied “mini mat” which has the same glossy grip surface and a matt side too. Placing the speaker on the mat and it holds the speaker firmly in place and also dampens any vibrations and seems to beef up the bass response a bit too. It’s a nice touch and a good bundle overall some way better than most makers

    No issues to report pairing it up or range which I tested at over 8 metres, I played the speaker most of the day so that’s over 9 hours use and it’s still holding up battery wise no complaint endurance wise but this will vary depending on the volume and use. The built in microphone worked fine a little above average in clarity quite acceptable for a speaker like this.

    **Sound quality**

    This is obviously important for any speaker but I have to take into account the small size of the unit, clearly you’re not going to get that “big stereo sound” from such a small 3 watt speaker. For the most part the sound was quite impressive with a decent spread across the spectrum not bad in the bass area and vocals to mids/highs were quite clear too. It’s also fairly loud and I can see why the mat was provided as the speaker can move a bit at high volume settings despite the added weight of the case.

    Areas for improvement:

    At high volume levels with the Aux input being use you’ll have to dial down the volume a bit from the device you are playing music from I found at high levels sometimes I got some distortion, but in some cases not so much so it seems to vary depending a lot on the device being used playing at normal volume levels the sound was quite clear and defined though. Maybe the speaker needs a volume limiting chip in the circuit design I didn’t notice any audio problems when paired with Bluetooth devices sound was very good for the size of speaker.

    I’d like to see maybe a volume control on the unit, it’s not a huge issue but you’ll have to control the volume from the input device be it 3.5mm or Bluetooth. In most ways though this is fairly impressive speaker and it comes with a good bundle I esp liked the long 3.5mm lead which is handy to have. Despite a few minor points this is an very nicely made speaker and worth looking at.

    This is a fantastic product, the sound is better than i expected from a relatively cheap speaker, it was easy to set up with my kindle fire and the battery lasted ages before it needed recharging. I would definitely recommend this product
