Bluetooth is technology that allows devices to connect over short distances, for example, any casting device you own (e.g. Google Chromecast) would work off Bluetooth. The development of the “short-link” radio technology, later named Bluetooth, was initiated in 1989 by Nils Rydbeck at a mobile company in Sweden. The idea of this name was proposed in 1997 by Jim Kardach of Intel.
How Does it Work
A Bluetooth device works by using radio waves instead of wires or cables to connect with your cell phone, smartphone or computer. Bluetooth is a wireless short-range communications technology standard found in millions of products we use every day – including headsets, smartphones, laptops and portable speakers.
Bluetooth headsets are devices that you can connect to your phone using Bluetooth, they will stream the audio from your device and will often come with a built-in microphone. These devices are usually used for communication purposes.
Bluetooth earphones connect to your device the same way as Bluetooth headsets. They are, however, used for more leisurely means and are optimized for things like music sound quality. TWS (True Wireless) earphones are Bluetooth earphones that do not include a wire but instead, establish a Bluetooth connection between the left and right earphone before connecting to your device.
